From new products featuring Hokkaido-grown “Kita Akari” potatoes to chocolate-based snacks and a revamped “Essen Potato,” a diverse lineup of products to enjoy in autumn and winter is being offered.
Calbee, Inc. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Shin Ehara) will be sequentially releasing new products that allow customers to enjoy the deliciousness of potatoes, as well as revamped versions of popular series, at its antenna shop “Calbee Plus” this autumn.
The lineup will include a variety of products, such as “Jaga Crispy Hokkaido Kita Akari Okhotsk Salt Flavor,” as well as renewed products in the “Essen Potato” series, “Beni Tenshi Baked Sweet Potato Fries Salt Flavor,” and seasonal limited-edition products using chocolate.
“Jaga Crispy Hokkaido-grown Kita Akari Potatoes, Okhotsk Salt Flavor”
- This is a limited-time product using “Kita Akari” potatoes from Hokkaido.
- To bring out the unique sweetness and flavor of “Kita Akari” potatoes, we seasoned them simply with salt from the Okhotsk Sea. The newly adopted “thick-cut strips” (thick, flat strips) are easy to eat in stick form, while still providing the texture unique to thick cuts and bringing out the gentle sweetness of “Kita Akari” potatoes. You can enjoy the crisp, light texture along with the fluffy, natural deliciousness of the ingredients.
“Essen Potato” (Revamped Series)
- We are renewing our “Essen Potato” thick-cut potato chips, which allow you to enjoy the delicious flavor of domestically grown potatoes. They are characterized by their satisfying texture thanks to their thick cut and their robust flavor that brings out the best in the ingredients.
- “Essen Potato,” which was created in 2014 as a product exclusive to the Hakata Hankyu store, was well-received by customers and has now become a popular series available at all Calbee Plus stores.
- This time, we’ve added a new “Deep dashi flavor with the aroma of grilled flying fish,” transforming our lineup into one that allows you to enjoy ingredients and flavors unique to Japan.

Calbee Plus stores are offering a limited-time sale of their popular “Kuradashi Yakiimo Kaitsuka” sweet potato snack, made with the Ibaraki Prefecture-grown sweet potato brand “Beni Tenshi®”. This snack takes advantage of the rich sweetness unique to Beni Tenshi sweet potatoes and is finished with a salty flavor, resulting in a perfect balance of sweetness and saltiness.
Chocolate Products Available Only in Autumn and Winter
“Crunchy Chocolate Potato”

“Kappa Ebisen Chocolate Flavor”
This is a limited-edition seasonal product that coats the long-selling “Kappa Ebisen” crackers with mild milk chocolate. While retaining the crispy texture that is characteristic of “Kappa Ebisen,” it has been finished with a sweet and salty flavor that allows you to enjoy the saltiness and sweetness of the chocolate at the same time. The exquisite balance that spreads with each bite makes it so delicious that you can’t stop eating it!
