Calbee, Inc., a leading Japanese snack manufacturer, has announced the release of its latest limited-edition flavor, “Pizza Potato Margherita Flavor,” inspired by the popular Margherita Pizza from the pizza delivery chain Pizza-La, operated by Four Seas Co., Ltd.
Recreating the Taste of a Classic Favorite
As part of Calbee’s long-running “Pizza Potato” series—known for its thick-cut chips topped with melted cheese flakes—the new Margherita Flavor captures the authentic taste of Pizza-La’s signature pizza. Developed over eight months of testing and refinement, the chips feature the fresh flavor of tomatoes and basil, complemented by the mellow richness of mozzarella cheese.
Pizza-La’s Margherita, celebrated for its attention to quality ingredients, served as the creative benchmark for this collaboration. According to Pizza-La representatives, replicating the pizza’s distinctive balance of tomato, basil, and cheese was “extremely challenging,” but the final result successfully delivers an authentic Margherita experience in every bite.
Distinctive Packaging and Design
The product packaging showcases a striking image of a Margherita pizza photographed by Pizza-La’s professional food photographer. Using Pizza-La’s brand colors—red and white—the design highlights the collaborative nature of this limited-edition product.
Pizza-La Caravan Campaign
To celebrate the collaboration, Calbee is launching a special campaign offering winners the chance to rent Pizza-La’s “Pizza-La Caravan” food truck for a day. The truck will deliver freshly baked pizzas to winners’ events, offering all-you-can-eat pizza during the rental period.
