Calbee, Inc. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Makoto Ehara) announced the launch of a special collaboration with East Japan Railway Company (JR East): the first-ever potato chips in railway-themed packaging.
The new product, “Oshi Line Chips”, will be available in two designs inspired by the Utsunomiya Line and Takasaki Line. Each features the iconic E233 series train name and the JU line symbol, bringing the excitement of rail travel into a snack beloved across Japan.
This initiative stems from the “Calbee Ruby Program × JR East Favorite Line General Election”, where fans voted for their favorite JR East lines. The Utsunomiya and Takasaki Lines emerged as winners, and now appear on the limited-edition packaging.
“We are thrilled to bring railway fans and snack lovers together with this unique collaboration,” said Makoto Ehara, President and CEO of Calbee, Inc. “It’s an opportunity to celebrate both regional pride and everyday enjoyment through our potato chips.”

The “Oshi Line Chips” project is part of Calbee’s broader efforts to create fan-driven, community-inspired products. By combining digital voting, railway culture, and everyday snacking, the collaboration showcases a new approach to co-creation between brands and consumers.
